Missouri offers a wide variety of schools that offer good auto mechanic degrees and certificates. These range from schools offering certificates, 2-year degrees, and even 4-year degrees with many different emphases such as the University of Central Missouri. This is a great state to attend school with an average tuition cost around $5,000, getting as low as $2,400 at some schools for in-district tuition pricing. Many of the 2-year schools will provide small classroom experience but even though UCM will have larger class size, they have great partnerships with the community and can get their students jobs at a much higher rate.
Wages in Missouri for auto mechanics are about the average for the entire nation so it is not great, but it is not bad. Although, working in metropolitan areas such as Kansas City, Springfield, or St. Louis will provide higher wages and there is more demand for auto mechanics in these areas. Moving between Kansas and Missouri will not provide much benefit but if you can move further east to Illinois, you will more likely find a higher wage and an easier time finding a job. If Missouri is your place, you will love all of the nature poking through urban life as Missouri has prioritized parks and nature conservatories within it’s major cities and all across the state.
